How do I apply for a merchant account?

What credit cards can I accept?
Humboldt Merchant Services enrolls you to accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. We also offer authorization for other major credit cards. If you already are enrolled for these, let us know your numbers and we will notate our files. Otherwise, contact the following credit card companies direct to enroll.

Can I accept debit cards?
You can accept debit cards through Humboldt Merchant Services for debit networks throughout the United States. Contact your sales representative to enroll you in a debit card program.
How are my monthly fees paid?
Monthly fees are automatically debited from your business checking account the first week of each month for the previous month's fees. There is no need to send in a check to pay fees.
What are my monthly fees?
Monthly fees vary based on the type of your account. All merchants pay a monthly minimum, a statement fee, and a Discount Rate and Authorization fee on every transaction. Refer to your Merchant Bankcard Agreement for your specific fees.
Can I place a hold on my merchant account?
We can close your account for up to four months and will charge a $15.00 reopen fee. After four months the account falls off our processor system and the merchant must reapply. Link on the above Humboldt Merchant Services Closure request form for more information. Other vendors providing a service to you may assess a separate reactivation fee.
Can I order supplies for my terminal or printer through Humboldt Merchant Services?
Yes, you can! Send us an email and tell us your: Merchant Number, Terminal type, Printer type, and quantity of supplies you need. We know the ribbon and paper types that support your equipment, so you do not need to list the specific item numbers.
